This is a place to fight step by step against the chronic disorders of modern life. Acting on the intention to not only live longer, but better and to feel better for today. To be where we are today and accepting that with compassion, while moving forward and not to giving up. Progress not perfection with gentle persistence. Taking breaks is encouraged. Not waiting to be saved but DIY, because no one is doing this for us and our health matters.
FAQ
-
The Groove Zone is a member site for curated music recommendations, movement courses, and original compositions that you can incorporate into your movement practice anywhere, on your schedule.

This is fitness for self-identifying dorks. Of course, it is open to anyone who finds their way here. There is a sweet spot for alternative/indie music fan/nerds who are starting to grapple with the fact that they need to intentionally move their aging bodies in order to keep healthy and perhaps feel alienated by a certain competitive perfectionist mindset in the fitness industry or modern life in general. Is that too specific? Oh well.

One goal of the Groove Zone is to amplify independent musicians. There are so many artists out there who deserve to be heard and this is a meaningful way to connect to their music. For the purposes of synchronizing running and walking steps, 4/4 rock and hip hop tend to be the most straightforward (although there is variation in the song suggestions.)
And OK, full disclosure, this is the pet project of an independent musician, certified trainer and coach, Lady Southpaw (AKA Erin Molloy), and this is the kind of music I like and tend to gravitate to.
Also, we accept suggestions and can create custom playlists, contact for more info.

This website organizes recommendations and links to the big music platforms (Spotify, Apple, YouTube, and Bandcamp…) where most people stream/buy music and artists get their royalties. You can search the titles to find the songs wherever you prefer to get music. Only original tracks by Lady Southpaw and collaborators are available for download on this site. You can access playlists directly through the platforms without a Groove Zone membership, but here you’ll find all the links in one place + original Lady Southpaw music and courses.
